10 arrested under PTA for commemorating Mullivaikkal genocide

Ten people have been arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act in Kiran, Batticaloa  for commemorating the Mullivaikkal genocide yesterday.

Wimalasena Lavakumar and his father held a memorial service on his land at Gran Beach yesterday. Following this, 10 people were arrested along with them. Two of those arrested were women.

A restraining order had been issued by the Valaichenai Magistrate’s Court to hold Mullivaikkal commemorative event.

Arrested Lavakumar had recently distributed his own land free of cost to the landless in Kiran area.
