Over 100 families affected by ban on fishing at Chulipuram East by Navy

Chankanai Divisional Secretary, S. Premini expressed concern yesterday that the livelihoods of more than 100 families are affected by the restrictions placed on fishing at Chulipuram East   by the Navy.

She said this in the DDC meeting held at District Secretariat, Jaffna yesterday.

Elaborating further she said that, as the Navy is placing restriction on fishing areas in the Sampil Thurai in Chulipuram East  of the Chankanai Divisional Secretary’sDivision, people engaged traditionally in fishing in this area had been affected.
