1,000 Tanks to save rain water to be constructed with preference to Island Sector

The District Secretary Jaffna said that under the Long vision scheme Chandrika Bandaranayake, 1,000 Rain water saving tanks will be constructed in the water scarce areas in Island sector and elsewhere in the North. The governor had earlier asked for projects to solve the problems of the North and we have obliged with some. He in concurrence of Chandrika Bandaranayake, had given us this scheme.

He was speaking in the foundation laying ceremony for the construction of the first of the 1000 tanks at a Velanai, Saravanai residence.

Each of tanks will cost 76,000/= and local workmen will be trained to construct them

Governor Palihakara laid the foundation stone in an event attended by District Secretary N.Vethanayagan, Secretary to the Governor Illangovan, Secretary to the Velanai PS, Mrs.M. Manjulathevi, and Irrigation Department Officials.
