Ban on singing National Anthem in Tamil – Amounts to Government itself sowing split among the races, says Mawai

The TNA MP Mawai Senathyrasa said that banning the singing of the National Anthem in Tamil will amounts to government itself sowing seeds of separation among the races.

He said so participating in the Tsunami commemoration and delivering a speech there.

Elaborating further, he said that we participated in Tsunami Commemoration events, Commanding Officer,  Security Forces – Jaffna was present and National Anthem was sung in Sinhala only. Hitherto sung in Tamil Language, the procedure had been  stopped after new Government had took over.

An army camp in this area was washed out by the Tsunami and the poralis of Liberation Tigers rescued the soldiers who got caught to the Tsunami. Humanity was at the level then. Now the Government is acting in a way that will exclude the Tamil people completely.

The changes instituted by the Gotabhaya Government are unacceptable to Tamil people.

If the government ban singing of National Anthem in all three languages, in the next Independence Day, I wish insist with the Government that ethnic conflicts and splits become more stronger.
