Action taken against 4 traders for selling rice at more price the Control price

In a context where the curfew is being implemented in Jaffna, legal action has been taken against 4 traders for selling rice at a higher price than the Government Control price, said the Consumers’ Affairs Authority said yesterday.

This action was taken yesterday following complaints from the public. On the orders of the District Secretary, Jaffna, the Consumers’ Affairs Authority Officers raided shops at Jaffna, Thirunelvely and Manipay.

Following complaints from the public these shops were raided and were found to be selling rice at inflated prices and legal action had been taken on them.

Further, action has been taken to sell goods at control prices to consumers, they said.
