While saying that , as a Government Department we are not going to encourage Liberation Tigers or their activities, the chairman of the Karaichchi Pradeshiya Sabah, Arunasalam Velamalihithan also accused that they see the activities of the Police as bringing illegal matters into the affairs of the Pradeshiya Sabas and politicizing them.
He accused so in a media briefing held in the evening of day before yesterday.
Elaborating further he said, for the last three days , the Service Market and the Green park which are under the purview of the Karaichchi PS are under the control of the Army and they have acquired part of it. That area is now found to be unusable by the PS.
The Police had informed the court in a distracting way that the PS had taken action to rallying up 500 persons for an event to encourage the activities of Liberation Tigers and had obtained a ban. We have not organized such an event.
When I went to participate in the Mulliwaikkal Commemoration, I was turned away at Tharumapuram area. I condemn this act of the Army with responsibility.
The International countries have said the people have the right to remember their dead and the Sri Lanka Government also had accepted it. But the Army is taking these stringent activities, he said.
