Right of remembering our dead deliberately denied, says TNPF Leader Gajendrakumar

Considerable amount of a race was subjected to well planned genocide by an overall majority race. Now, the basic right to remember our dead and pay homage to them had been prevented in planned way, said the Leader of the TNPF, Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam.

He said so in a press conference held yesterday at the Head office of the Front at Kokkuvil.

Elaborating further he said that, the arrangements pursued by a nation subjected to Genocide to commemorate and pay homage to kins had been blocked in a planned way by the chauvinist Government using Police, Army and STF.

We were prevented from paying homage to our dead under the guise of Covid 19 spreading all over the world. While two persons who lighted memorial flames at Puttalam where the curfew had been relaxed had been arrested , President, Prime Minister and hundreds  of Security Forces personnel gathered to celebrate the war victory in Colombo which had been declared Very High Risk area.

Another party including important leaders held a struggle in Colombo.

The above events were held without any hindrance of Security forces or Health Officials.

People are dissatisfied over the Government breaching the laws of the country for their own activities.

The Sri Lanka Government structure is a racist structure. From the past periods, governments acting with consideration only of the interests of Sinhala people were in power.

The Civil Societies which are active in Sri Lanka had not said anything about violation of Rights committed here.

Tamil people should understand these realities and rally to point out such wrong doings in the future, he said.
