14th Annual Commemoration of Tsunami Victims held in several Places
The 14th annual commemoration of our dear ones immolated by Tsunami was held in several parts of Tamil Home land. Several thousands of people were killed in the Tsunami caused by the earth quake in Sumatra Islands.
The commemorations of people killed in the Tsunami were held at 9.05 a.m., the time in which the Tsunami struck the coastal areas of Tamil Home Land.
A common memorial flame was lighted in Uduththurai where more than 800 Tsunami victims were buried. Commemorations were also held at another location in Uduththurai, Kaddaikkadu, Vettilaikerny, Thalayadiand Supper Madam.
A requiem mass was said at 6.30 a.m. at the Puloly St. Joseph’s church led by Parish Priest, Fr. Yavees, following which homage will be paid at the tombs of the Tsunamy victims there.
Similarly, another requiem mass was said at 6.30 a.m. in the Manatkaadu St. Antony’s Church, led by Parish Priest Jude Vincent. Following the mass homage was paid at the memorial shrine. Thereafter, homage was paid at the spot where 72 victims were buried.
Likewise, worships were made in the Hindu Temples of Vadamaradchchi and special masses were said at Churches.
