Former Minister Vijith Vijayamuni Soysa said that the SLFP members under President Maithripala Sirisena now represent the majority in the party and so Sirisena is legally the President of the party.
Vijith Vijayamuni Soysa said that Maithripala Sirisena had contested the Presidential election as the General Secretary of the SLFP.
He said that all the SLFP members who have extended support to President Sirisena will back the 100 day program in Parliament.
Earlier this afternoon, President Maithripala Sirisena, in his first address to the Nation as President of Sri Lanka, had invited all political parties represented in Parliament to join an all-party Government.
Speaking from Kandy outside the Sri Dalada Maligawa or the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, Sirisena sought the support of Parliament to implement his policy statement on good governance and democracy.
