160 Million worth of Gold biscuits captured in Mannar seas while being smuggled to India

The Customs circles said yesterday that 24.2kg of Gold biscuits were captured  while being smuggled by sea to India. The jewelers said that the current market of this lot is around 180 Million.

Three persons of Mannar have been arrested with boats. The captured Gold biscuits are now in our office in Thellipalai, said the Customs officers.

Meanwhile the Sri Lanka Navy said they have captured 26.8 Kilograms of Gold biscuits and had handed over them to the Northern Region Customs. They were captured on two days and each biscuit is of 100 gms. Weight.

They had been smuggled on the 8th and the 11th of this month. 26 biscuit were captured on 8th in the Pesalai seas. 3 persons and the boat were captured. 242 biscuits were captured on 11th along with 3 men and the boat they were travelling. Totally 6 persons  and 2 boats have been captured on both days.
