An assistant Manager and another employee of a private Bank in Kilinochchi have been dismissed by the Bank Management for the ‘crime’ of lighting sacrificial flames, remembering Tamils killed in Muliwaikkal.
Officials and employees of a private bank in Kilinochchi got together and engaged in commemorating Muliwaikkal in their branch.
Photographs of this event had been updated in some remote corner of Facebook and some Sinhala Chauvinists had started pressurizing the bank to take action on these employees.
As a result of this, the Bank Management has subjected the Assistant Manager to inquiry. The Assistant Manager had explained that they commemorated their relatives killed at Muliwaikkal.
However, the top management of the Bank had argued that remembering Members of LTTE is an act against the country and had dismissed the Assistant Manager and another employee.
