230 acre out of 620 acre to be distributed to people, says Manthai West Divisional Secretary.

The Divisional Secretary of Manthai West, S.Ketheeswaran announced yesterday that out of 620 acres that were under the Army, 230 acre are to be distributed to the people.

During the period of 1997 – 2007 these lands were maintained by the Liberation Tigers . Mango, jack lime, and Cashew trees were planted here and the area people were given employment here. At the end of the war Army acquired the whole land and used it for their agricultural activities.

The Divisional Secretary said that  230 acre have been received from  the Army and will be distributed among people living under poverty line, woman leadership families and families of former militants, with a view to improve their living standards.
