Minister of Plantations, Naveen Dissanayake yesterday declared Jaffna – Mannar – Mullaitheevu as the 2nd Coconut Triangle Region yesterday.
The Minister who was a visit to Jaffna yesterday, participated as the Chief Guest at the issuing of coconut plants at the Cultural Centre located in Chavakacheri
Speaking there he declared the Coconut Triangle and said further that, Not only people were killed but also useful crops, especially, the coconuts were destroyed, by the war. As a first step in bringing theses back to old state, we have declared the Jaffna-Mannar- Mullaitheevu zone as the 2nd Coconut Triangle.
While, action is being taken to plant 80,000 coconut trees all over the country, 45,000 plants will be planted in Northern Province only. In the future through this scheme, all the people of the country could travel united, towards a peaceful Development , said the Minister.
