The Chief Secretary of Northern Province said that 3 three Rural Construction Development projects are to be undertaken at a cost of Rs. 3,010 Million, provided by JAICA organization. These projects are scheduled to be completed within 3 years. Priority had been given to Rural Road Development.
Other projects include Water Storage scheme and Supply of Drinking water. The 3 projects are distributed among all 5 Districts based on the needs.
Out of the 3,010 Million, 1883.112 Million will be spent on Road Development, 695.39 Million for Water reservoir scheme and 431.5 Million for Supply of clean drinking water.
Under the road development allocation, 279 Km long roads will be renovated. The highest allocation is for Mulaitheevu District with 72 Km. renovation, with Jaffna getting 69 Km, Kilinochchi getting 50 Km., Mannar 45 Km. and Vavuniyta 41 Km.Arrangements had been completed to start these works by the end of this year, he further said.
