34 Sinhala Candidates Admitted to Jaffna Nursing school, refusing admission to several qualified Tamil Candidates

Although 90 Tamil candidates applied for admission to the Jaffna Nursing School, only 25 were given admission, although all 90 applicants were qualified.. At the same time 34 Sinhala students were admitted to the said Nursing School, accuse the people including the rejected candidates.

There are two training schools in Vavuniya and Jaffna. But in both training Schools, Sinhala candidates had been admitted in majority while excluding qualified Tamil Candidates.

While propanganda is being made in the media that the Northern youth does not show interest in Nursing, Qualified Tamil candidates had been excluded they say.

There are more than 1,000 vacancies for nurses in the Jaffna Teaching Hospital. If we had been admitted, in place of these Sinhalese  candidates  these vacancies could have been filled slowly, they pointed out.

The Principal of the Nursing School Mrs. Rajuladevi Vallipuranathan, when contacted over this said that several have come and complained her office and she informed appropriate authorities about it.
