40 boxes of T56 Ammunition recovered from Kilinochchi Murasumodai

Kilinochchi Police announced yesterday that large amount of ammunition buried in the ground was recovered from the residence of a member of the public located at Murasumodai, Kilinochchi.

The house owner had cut a pit in his yard and finding metal boxes buried there, he had informed the Grama Niladhari, who in turn had informed the police regarding this find.

Following the information received by the police, that ammunition are found in the yard of one Velupillai Manickavasagar at Murasumodai, permission was obtained from the court and the excavation task was commenced by noon yesterday.

Large amount of ammunition for attack gun were recovered yesterday. 36 boxes with 90 rounds each and 2 boxes of T56 rounds(1,500) have been recovered.
