4,000 acre in Jaffna will be released :  Major General Mahesh Senanayake

20,000 acre lands were acquired by the Security Forces Head Quarters of the Jaffna District. Out of them 2,000 acre had been already released. Further 4,000 acre will be released soon, said the former Commander of the Security Forces – Jaffna, Major General Mahesh Senanayake, who is leaving on a promotion as the Chief of Staff of the Army.Maj. Gen. Tharsana Hettiarachchi is replacing him as the Commander of Security Forces – Jaffna.

The fare event to Maj. Gen. Mahesh Senanayake, the former Commander of Security Forces – Jaffna, who is going on a promotion as the Chief of Staff of the Army was held at the auditorium of the Jaffna Secretariat presided by the District Secretary, N. Vethanayagan.

The General took part in the event and while Speaking further, he said,The National Security forces had undertaken a reliable project for the people of Jaffna District.Through that we have provided lands for the use of the people.

We are to release further lands. Action is being taken under this project of releasing 4,000 acre during April this year some places in the Kankesanthurai area of the Jaffna District will be released, he said.

The Secretariat sources further said, that matters regarding Identification of lands to be resettle in the future, making proposals for them, the basic needs of the people resettled recently, Making the lands currently used by the Army, available to the people, and the contemporary activities of the people of Jaffna through National Security were discussed in this event.
