42 acres of land released in Pilakudiyiruppu, Air Force moving its base

The Air force handed over 42 acre on which their Pilakudiyiruppu camp was located to the Mulaitheevu District Secretary today. They are moving their things from the camp and have removed the boundary fences.

A meeting occurred day before yesterday between the Leader of the Opposition, Sampanthan and the President regarding the release of the lands and a promise was given by President to release the lands.

Following the Air Force vacating the lands, Officers including the Land Officer of Karaithuraipattu Division went to the spot for surveying work.

Mulaitheevu District Secretary said that the OIC of the Air Force camp had told him that the lands will be handed over, today and that after that the lands will be given to the people.

However, the people on struggle for their lands said that the struggle will not stop until all 54 acre of their lands released.
