45 Journalists murdered during Mahindha’s rule: says Viyalendran MP

During Mahindha’s regime, 45 journalists were shot dead, said Batticaloa District MP, Viyalendran while speaking in sports meet of a pre-school located at Bar Road, Batticaloa.

WSe cannot forget that the Senior Journalist Aiyathurai Nadesan was shot dead on 31st May 2004. Oppression was unleashed on Media and journalist fled the country. Voice of the media was throttled and people were unable to know anything.

There are no people with good thoughts. Several people were abducted. Several had gone missing. When you think of these things, it is clear that the Media freedom had become a question mark.

Even after the regime change, some people from the regime are repeating the same things. It makes us wonder whether we will go again into the dark era, he said.

    Dear Viylendran
1.This important news. Is it possible to give their names & places they were shot? When(year) were they shot?

    2. Sad to hear this at a pre-school ceremony
