600 acre land to be released in the Vali – North next week

600 acres coming under 6 Grama Officer divisions will be released next week. A group of officials led by the district Secretary, Jaffna, made a visit for the inspection of the areas to be released. A meeting was held at Palaly last Sunday led by the Defence Secretary on this matter.

Following this meeting the Secretary  said that the Army had drawn a time table for releasing all releasable land  before the middle of next year and that around 700 acres will be released soon.

District Secretary N.Vethanayagan and his team went inspect this lot yesterday. After a meeting at Palaly chaired by the Commander, SF-J, Mahes Senanayake,  The team taken and shown the lands to be released.

The Whole of the west side of the road from Santhan junction to Urani Junction via Thaiyiddy will be released. On the East only portions closer to the road will be released. Shifting back of the fences is in progress and expected to be completed next week.

The Commander has also said that the funds for shifting some camps had not been received and the shifting will be delayed till the funds are received.

Kankesanthurai Centre, Kankesanthurai East,Thaiyiddi , Thayiddy East, balance portion of Pallai Veemankamam are the areas ear marked for release next week.
