683 acre land of people, under the control of the Army in Vali-North to be released today

The Army is to release 683 acres of people hitherto under their control, today. The said lands are to be handed over officially by the Army Commander Lt. Gen. Mahesh Senanayake to the District Secretary, Jaffna, today.

Commenting on this the District Secretary, Jaffna said that, lands in Then mayilai, Myliddy North, Thayiddy, Myliddy South areas on to the west of the Kadduvan – Myliddy Road will be released today.

Furthe the Ponnalai – Kankesanthurai – Point Pedro road will be opened for all public traffic from 6.00 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Hence the people could use their lands and the road.

Discussions were held for the last two years over these lands. Shifting of army camp had caused the delay in release of lands.

He also said that, further 3,000 acre are still under the control of the Army in Vali – North.
