7.5 acres of land released today in Puthukudiyiruppu

7.5 acres of the people’s lands occupied by the army in Puthukudiyiruppu was released  today. Following Kepapilavu lands being released Puthukudiyiruppu people also continued their struggle for their lands.

It is in this context that Mulaitheevu District Secretary, Mrs. Rupawathy Ketheeswaran yesterday said that Government had decided to release Puthukudiyiruppu Lands in stages. The District Secretary, who had participated in an event presided by the President, in Colombo, day before yesterday, informed as above.

Mulaitheevu/Pilakkuduyiruppu lands which under occupation of the Air Force were fully released. 42 acre land, hither to under the occupation of the Air Force, has been released.  Although people have undertaken struggles, the government has decided to release the lands stage by stage, she said.

First stage was released today other stages of release to be held after 3 months  and last after 6 months after the 2nd stage she said. She also said that, she expect the people to give up the struggle today.
