The point Pedro court yesterday rejected an application by Point Pedro Police to ban the construction of a memorial for 12 LLTE members including Kumarappa and Pulenthiran.
They sacrificed their life, taking cyanide when Sri Lankan Army tried to arrest them from IPKF custody, which was considered as a joint intrigue by Indian- Sri Lankan Armies.
A memorial was erected at Theeruvil in memory of the 12 Tigers. However it was later demolished presumably by Sri Lanka Army.
Now the Valveddithurai TC has decided to re-construct the memorial at the same venue with another memorial for People and members of other movements who have lost their life in war.
Accordingly, a foundation laying ceremony was held at Theeruvil for constructing the tower.
Meanwhile on application from Point Pedro Police, the Judged issued an interim injunction and ordered, the TC Chairman to appear in court and give reasons.
Following senior AAL, Sri Kantha and N. Sujeepan showing cause in the court the Judge revoked the Interim order granted permission to continue the work.
