8 Army men arrested by Police for stealing iron pipes of hoardings at Kaithady

8 army men who were trying to steal iron pipes from advertisement hoardings behind Palmyrah Development Board were arrested by the Chavakacheri Police, with two vehicle in which they came. When inquiries were made, it was found out the they belong to the Army. On being informed of the incident large number of Military Police and other army officers mobbed the police Station and demanded the army men be released to them to be subjected to Army regulations.

However, the police had refused it and produced the men to the Chavakachcheri Accting judge who ordered the police to release them on suitable bail. Army men were later released on 50,000/= surety bail each.

There were about 20 hoarding, approved by Chavakacheri Pradeshiya saba. 8 of them had disappeared without trace.
