More than 80,000 acre lands of Tamil people robbed in Mulaitheevu, says Raviharan

Former Northern Provincial Council, T.  Raviharan has said that more than 80,000 acres of lands of Tamil people had been robbed in Mulaitheevu District by Government Departments, Security forces and by way of colonization.

The Wild Life Department has acquired 21,265.47 acres in Nanthikadal and Nayaru areas only. This Department has acquired large extents of lands.

The Gotabhaya Navy Camp in Mulaitheevu has acquired 670 acres of state and private lands. Archaeological Department has announced 47 places in Mulaitheevu to be under their control.

As per District Secretariat statistics, Mahaweli Development Authority has taken under it 2,149 acres of lands belonging to 523 beneficiaries. 33 southerners have been granted 25 acres each in Kokkuthoduwai and Koddaikkerny.

However the District Secretary has said that only 28,762 acres has to be released. This is an incorrect data, he said.
