Jaffna receives 915 mm rain from January up-to yesterday

The Officer in Charge of The Regional Metrological  Department, T.Pratheepan said yesterday that Jaffna  district had received 915 mm rain during the period from January to Yesterday.

While 661.7 mm rain fall had been recorded during last November,300.1 mm rain had been received till yesterday,  this November. Compared to last year this is less but it is expected rains would be received during the next 10 days.

The average rain falls for the last 24 hours from 8.30 a.m. day before yesterday to 8.30. yesterday are as follows.

Chavakachcheri- 43.2mm , Atchuvely – 23, point Pedro -33.3 mm , Nainatheevu- 21.3 mm, Delft – 17.2 mm, Jaffna – 22.9, Eliphant pass – 38.0 mm, Alampil – 21.5 mm, Vallipunam – 31.0

He also said that winds up to 50 Km winds are prevailing in the sea areas and seas are rough.
