Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe declared yesterday in Jaffna, in the presence of TNA MPs that, only 900 acres are left to be released in Jaffna and action will be taken to re-commission KKS Cement Factory.
He said so after the inauguration of renovated Myliddy Harbour. Several activities are being undertaken to re-construct Jaffna which had been severely affected by war. As a part of this effort Myliddy harbour has been renovated and handed over to the people today.
200 houses are to be constructed around this harbor and the balance 900 acres will be released.
Around 35,000 acre lands under the control of the Army have been released during the period of 2009 – 2015. From 2015 to 2019, around 45,850 acre have been released. While the HSZ is shrinking we are encountering problems in providing necessary funds to people being resettled, he said.
TNA MPs, Mawai Senathyrasa, Tharmalingam Sitharthan, E.Saravanabavan, M.A. Sumanthiran, The Governor NP, Dr. Suren Ragavan, State Minister for Education, Wijayakala Maheswaran, Minister of Fisheries, B.Harrison , Secretary to Ministry of Resettlement, S.Sivagnanasothy and Divisional Secretaries participated in this event.
