Sri Lanka should be taken to International Court and investigated, says Mawai to UN representatives

The Leader of the ITAK, Mawai Senathyrasa said yesterday that the countries which have membership in the UNHRC should take action to take Sri Lanka to International Courts, as per the complaints made to the Council regarding the Genocide perpetrated in the final war of Sri Lanka.

He said this during a meeting with the UN Representatives held at the Head Office of ITAK in Jaffna.

Commenting to the media regarding the meeting , he said that, this action should be taken by the co-sponsors of the UN Resolution on Sri Lanka.

As from the end of the war several complaints regarding the genocide had been placed before several organizations including the UNHRC.

Several Reports including that of Dr. Navaneethampillai who undertook a field study of the complaints had been had been handed over to the UNHRC.

Hence we insisted that this inquiry should be undertaken on the basis of these  these documents, he said.
