19 prisoners released on bail form Batticaloa prison yesterday

19 prisoners were released on bail from Baticaloa prison yesterday. This is further to 162 prisoners being released on bail earlier.

It is notable that 241 prisoners have been released from Jaffna prison by last week.

It is learnt that these prisoners are being released on bail due to the threat of Corona virus.

However a Colombo court had condemned the attempts of drug convicts to go on bail using  this arrangement.
