Shells recovered from Kurumbasiddy and Vavuniya

23 shells were recovered from a private well in Kurumbasdiddy of the Thellipallai Polioce division.

These shells were recovered in an excavation made as per the Court order. Some uxo were observed in a private well near the Kurumbasiddy Amman Kovil . Police were informed of this.

In an excavation undertaken yesterday 23 shells had been recovered. Further UXOs had been observed in the well, it is reported. Following this further excavations are to be made, in this well, it is reported.

14 shells recovered in Vavuniya.

The Special Task Force recovered 14 shells in Kanakarayankulam area yesterday.

Renovation works are being undertaken in Kurisuddakulam in Kanakarayankulam area. Following UXOs being observed by the renovation workers, they have informed the Kanagarayankulam Police. The police had made a visit to the spot and with the help of STF 14 shells were recovered from the spot.

Suspecting that there may be more UXOs in the area, STF is to obtain court permission and undertake further excavations at the site, it is learnt.
