90.8 mm rains recorded in Jaffna District

The officer in Charge of the metrological Department at Thirunelvely, T.Pratheeban said that 90.8 mm rainfall had been recorded in Jaffna District yesterday.

The disturbance caused lower atmosphere had caused this rain fall and the Department expects that this situation may extend to another 18 hours.

90.8mm rainfall  had been recorded in the last two days, with 55.4 mm rainfall being recoded within the period of 8.30 a.m. day before yesterday to 8.30a.m. yesterday 22.7 mm rainfall being recorded between the period of  8.30a.m. yesterday to 2.30 p.m. yesterday.

The highest rainfall of 92.9mm rainfall being recorded at Atchchuvely area  and Thellipalai had received 84.4 mm rain fall. From 1st of January this year a total343.9 mm rainfall had been recorded in Jaffna District.

The Department has said that  rains with thunder may be experience in the coastal seas around the island and warned the fishermen to engage in fishing with care.
