Maithri’s statements raised suspicions in Tamil people: CM says to American War Crimes Expert

The NPC CM , C.V.Wigneswaran had said to the visiting American War Crimes Expert that, the opinions expressed by President regarding the resolution adopted by the UNHRC had raised suspicions in the minds of Tamil people regarding whether the affected people will be delivered with justice. Apart  from that,  the government is showing much lethargy in acting on the recommendations of the UNHRC.

The Special Coordinator of Secretariat of Justice for Global Crimes of the American Department of State, Rod Butchwald who is on a sudden visit to Sri Lanka, met the CM yesterday  at his Colombo residence  on day before yesterday.

The purpose of his visit was to study about the changes and benefits after the regime change. I updated him on the current situation. I pointed out to him that GOSL is not making any progress on the Resolution adopted by UNHRC on Sri Lanka and moving in a very, very slow pace.

Foreign Judges and prosecutors had to come to conduct the UN’s investigation. For that a new law had to be passed. But no action is apparent regarding the enactment of this law.
