I am neither ready to run the Government as some NGOs with foreign connection say nor to bring charge sheets against the tri-forces and investigate them, said the president Maithripala Sirisesena among Tri-forces and Police in a meeting at Palaly yesterday.
While saying that he had immediately rejected the proposal by UNHR Commissioner to bring in foreign judges to investigate our Army men, he also said that he is working with responsibility during his term of office to safe guard the security and honour of the soldiers who have fought for the freedom of their Motherland.
Later he moved freely with the soldiers and inquired about their welfare.
A Naga Tree was planted in the camp in memory of the President’s visit. He also visited the Air Force Camp in Palaly and conversed with the men there.
Ministers Mahindhea Samarasinghe, Thumintha Dissanayake, Tri- Forces Chiefs, IGP and the Commander of the Army – Jaffna District, Mahes Senanayake participated in these events.
