TNA, not a private property; We reject Sumanthiran justifying grace period : TELO

TELO has publicly announced that they completely rejecting the statement of the Spokesman of TNA and MP, M.A.Sumanthiran saying the as far as political Solution is concerned the merger of North and East is not possible immediately and justifying grace period being granted to Sri Lankan Government.  As far as the matter of finding a political solution to the ethnic problem is concerned, the basic political demand is Autonomy with full powers to the language based and merged North and Eastern Provinces.

This is said in a press release issued by TELO yesterday.

There is no room for compromise in this basic stance for which the Tamil people have given a massive mandate. The two majority parties have joined hands in not being ready to grant autonomy in Tamil home lands. They are also together in not implementing the UNHRC resolution on Foreign Judges.

In this context, Sumanthiran justifying the gracing of time is not acceptable to the stance of the other three constituent parties of TNA.

While poking fun at the political wisdom of the 11 MP who had sent a memorandum asking that, time should not be granted to Sri Lankan Government, a serious stance has been put forward without consulting the Coordination Committee. Further attempts are being made to create negative attitude among Tamil people with regard to NE  Merger.

TNA is not a private property of any one of the constituent parties. If any part finds it difficult to adhere to the mandate given by Tamil people, well, the doors of the TNA are open for them to go out, it is said.
