TNA loses to its new allies in Velanai Pradeshiya Sabai

The TNA  has lost Velanai PS to its new ally EPDP. The EPDP had captured the PS with the assistance of TULF and Mahindha’a Pothujana Peramuna. Namasivayam Karunamoorthy and the member of the Pothujana Peramuna were elected Chairman and Vice Chairman, respectively.

TNA had 8 seats, EPDP – 6, Pothujana Peramuna -2 and UNP,TULF, SLFP and TNPF had one each. During the voting UNP voted for TNA and PP and TULF voted for EPDP with TNPF and SLFP abstained.

Another defeat for ITAK by Constituent ally PLOT in Valikamam South PS.

In a four cornered contest in the Valikamam South PS, the ITAK was defeated by its own constitutional ally, PLOT  and  Tharsan of the PLOT was elected as the Chairman.
