Police will not hinder transport of harvested paddy, says Kilinochchi District DIG
Kilinochchi District DIG, Mahindha Gunaratne assured yesterday that the police will not hinder the taking the harvesting machines for harvesting and the tractors which are used to transport harvested paddy on the roads in Kilinochchi District.
The farmers yesterday complained in a special Agricultural Committee meeting held at the District Secretariat that, the traffic police are stopping the harvesting machines taken for harvesting, and the tractors taking the harvest home in the road stretch from Paranthan Junction to Puliyampokkanai junction on the A-35, Paranthan – Mulaitheevu Road and harassing them.
Speaking there , the District Secretary said that this is an agricultural District and harvesting is in progress and he requested that the police should not cause hindrance to these activities.
The DIG in reply said that the farmers should inform him if any hindrances are caused by police and vehicles could use the road except at school hours.
