Torture /killing of Suspect in police custody – Case against 5 police officers postponed
The case against 5 Police officers including former OIC of Chunnakam Police ChinthakaBandara charging them with the torture and murdering of a suspect while in their custody was postponed to June 14th.
The case was taken before HC Judge A. Premasangar yesterday. Anuradapura Prison officials produced the accused in the courts. State Counsel Mathiny Wignewaran appeared on behalf of prosecution.
The accused are charged with the torture of murder of Sriskantharasa Sumanan while in their custody.
40 witnesses including 10 civil witnesses,2 army officers, JMO and IP, Nishantha are cited in the Charge Sheet.
