A situation where sea water had to be consumed will be created in Jaffna : a Geography Professor

In the next five years the people of Jaffna will have to drink sea water instead of fresh water, said Geography Professor, and the former VC of the University of Jayawardenepura, Senevi Eppittawatte.

Since the fresh water in Jaffne is found with lime stone, there is a possibility of sea water mixing with drinking water. This situation had already commenced in Jaffna. Sometimes, there may be a chance of the whole peninsula going under sea water. Even if there is a possibility of providing drinking water to people, finding water for their agriculture.

It is also notable that the Northern Minister of Agriculture, P.Ainkaranesan had said recently that, some parts of the peninsula may go under sea because of the disparities between Geographical features.
