Accused Kanagasapathy Thevathsan in the Fort railway station suicide attack, sentenced to 20 years

Colombo High court sentenced Kanagasapapathy Thevathasan, who was accused as an accomplice in the Fort Railway Station suicide attack, on 2008 February 3rd ,  to 20 years imprisonment yesterday.

In a suicide attack made at the Fort Railway Station made on 3rd February 2008, 12 people were killed including 8 school students. These students were from the Elle team of Colombo D.S.Senanayake College. Around 100 people were injured in this attack.

Thevathasan was charged with providing lodging for the suicide attacker and aiding the attack.

When the case was taken up for hearing before Colombo Special Court Judge, Priyasena Ranasinghe, the accused was sentenced to 20 years RI, following him pleading guilty. The case was in progress for 7 years.
