Adequate stock are in hand, Jaffna Trader’s Association announces

Adequate stocks of essential goods are in stock. The people need not go into panicky shopping and create artificial shortages, the Jaffna Traders Association have said.

Commenting on this the President of the Traders’ Union, Jeyasekaram said that as the corona infection had transformed into social contamination, the people should adhere to Health precautions. The people may not indulge in excessive purchase of essential goods, in anticipation that the country will be locked down due to Corona.

This is not necessary as there are adequate stocks in hand and goods are continued to be brought from Colombo. Traders are also in readiness to make home deliveries.

At the same time, the goods on which the Government has proclaimed ban are sold at high prices. The price increase is caused by importers, not by the traders. The Government should remove the ban, he said.
