Ancient Sacred Pool discovered near Sivan Temple discovered in Trinco

An ancient  pool (Theerththa kerny) was discovered near the Sivan kovill discovered early part May, in Thiruvenkalai  area. The Theerththa kerny was discovered near the location where 1,000 year old epigraphs were discovered along with the Sivan kovil  in Thiruvenkalai in Trincomalee (Refer article “1,000 year old……….”     of May 7^th in Tamil Diplomat)

The said Sivan Kovil is located in a jungle area in Lingapuram around 8 Km from Trinco-  Kiliveddy Main road.

It is notable that the said Sivan kovil and some walls with 1,000 years old epigraphs were discovered during an excavation undertaken by Archaeological team headed by Prof.Pushparatnam at the Thirumankalai.
