The Application filed in the courts to regain the title of the Sridhar Theatre, which is currently being used as the Head office of the Eelam People Democratic Party (EPDP) will be taken up for trial on June 6th.
AAL Kesavan Sayanthan had filed this application citing six person including Ratnasabapathy Sridhar as the plaintiffs and the Secretary General of EPDP and MP Douglas Devananda as the respondent.
The respondent who had gone into occupation of the theater in 1990 using the unusual situation prevailing in the country then, had encroached the property and building for the last 20 years, without paying any rent.
Hence the respondent should pay us compensation Rs. 100 Million at the rate of Rs.75.000/= per month, and the interest on it.
The Plaintiffs has requested that the property be re-vested in them with the cost of the current case. Judge V.Ramakamalan had granted permission to call this case on June 6th.
