Appointing a Tamil Governor to North is a welcome act, says the former CM, C.V.Wigneswaran

We should not consider that through appointing a Tamil Governor to the North, we could fulfil the aspirations of our people. If the government is having a real concern for solving the problems of the Tamil people, it should take action bring a solution on a Federal System basis within merged North and Eastern Provinces, the former CM, C.V.Wigneswaran has said.

The appointment of a Tamil Governor to the Northern Province is a welcome act. It gives me much pleasure that the Governments, which were posing hindrances to the activities of the Northern Provincial Council by appointing Military officers and Southern Politicians who were ignorant of the hearts of the people, to the Northern Province which was encountering various crisis situations, have now appointed Dr. Suren Ragavan, a scholar with political knowledge of ethnic problem.

We will have to wait and see whether there are any political motive behind this appointment and how far will the President allow him to operate independently he has said in a press release.
