Ariyakulam water sample sent for analysis

Following the Ariyakulam located near Jaffna Naga Vihare changing its colour to red, water samples from the tank have been sent to the Botany Department of the University of Jaffna for analysis.

The Commissioner of the Jaffna Municipal Council said so, yesterday.

Elaborating further, he said as soon as the information was received by them, that information was passed on to the Science faculty. The samples from the tank was also handed over to the professor of the Faculty. This was also intimated to the professor in writing. Although there were rains recently samples were drawn prior to the rains, and results are expected to be received in two or three days, he said.

A fear psychosis prevailed among the area residents following the tank water changing it colour to red.
