Army cheats again, accusations relevant to sea area of Urany

It is of no use releasing only the Sea area.Fishermen should be allowed to engage in fishing. They enticed us that they are releasing the Urany Harbour area, but have cheated us by releasing only the sea area, accused A.Kunabalasingam, the President Vali-North Resettlement and Rehabilitation Society.

He was commenting thus, on the release of 500 Meters long sea area day before yesterday.

Elaborating further he said, the livelihood benefit of the people have not been taken into consideration. This act could be considered only as a cheating act. Only 500 Meter long sea has been released. How could the people engage in fishing? Where could the fishermen bind their boats? Where are they to put up Vadies to protect their nets and Out Board Engines? On Which land they could put their nets to dry? Not a single family of Fishermen could benefit from this sea area released without considering the above factors.

If they really want the fishermen to benefit, the area north of Pointpedro – KKS road should be released. If they do so 217 families could resettle there.Then they could bring in their boats and nets and engage in fishing. That could be considered as a real livelihood, he said.
