Army preparing to place Statue of Lord Buddha at the Entry point to Madhu Shrine

Two Citizen groups from Mannar  has sent urgent requests to Provincial Minister for Education and Cultural Affairs to take immediate action to stop Army’s attempt to place Buddha Statue at the Entry point to Madhu Shrine on the Mannar – Vavuniya Road.

The Army is running a snack bar near this point and they are preparing to place a Buddha Statue under a BO tree near this junction. This will desecrating the shrine’s holiness they have pointed out.

They have already started worship there, and this is an inadmissible act they have said.

Whenever Army move out of any place, they normally leave back the Buddha statue they have worshiped and that have been the cause of Nation problem.

However , Vanni Armed Forces Base Officers said that no action had been taken to place Buddha statue at the said location.
