Army refuses to release Palaly Teachers training College, agree to release 3 schools

The army which had agreed to release 3 schools within the High Security Zone before the month of December, but has firmly said they will not give the Teachers Training College in Palaly.

The special discussion on the release of lands of people and schools under the control of the Army in the Peninsula was held at the District Secretariat yesterday.

State Minister of Education RathaKrishnan,MP, Saravanabawan, District Secretary, N.Vethanayagan, the Secretary of the Ministry of Resettlement, Sures, the Secretaries of the NPC Ministry of Education and the Governor, Army Officers and Divisional Secretaries participated in the meeting

Requests were made to release 6 schools and the lands of the people so that the resettlement of the unsettled people could be completed. Further request was made to release Teachers training College to aid the enhancement of the ability of the teachers.

The Army Officers in reply said that 3 schools could be released within December decision about releasing a 4th school could be given in 15 days time. However they said the Teachers Training College which is located in close proximity to the Army Camp could not be released immediately.
