Army trying to retain multi-storied building built at a cost of 1,500 Million at Kepapulavu

In order to retain the two-storied building built by the Ministry of Defence at a cost of 1,500 Million at Kepapulavu Army is offering to provide alternate lands and funds to build a comfortable home. They have informed about this offer to the relevant Civil Officers, it is reported.

138 families have undertaken a struggle in front of the Army camp in Kepepulavu, demanding to release 482 acre land belonging to them.

Around 760 acre had been occupied by the Army in Kepapulavu. The Defence faction had consented to release only 279 acre following the struggle of the people. However 142.2 acre of residential lands of people and their livelihood providing lands are not included in the 279 acre consented to be released by the Army. If the people accept the lands they provide, they will pay compensation for the ancestral lands and build a house worth nearly 1.5 Million in the accepted lands, the Army had informed their new scheme to relevant Civil Officers, day before yesterday.

However the civil Officers said that there is two-storied building in the lands claimed by the people built by the Defence Ministry with a Market value 1,500 Million and that is why the army is offering alternate scheme so as to retain the said building.
