The samples of the skeletons recovered from the Sathosa Mass Grave at Mannar are being prepared to be sent to Florida for Carbon analysis at the end of this month, said the special JMO in charge of the excavations, Chamintha Rajapakse.
After being suspended for 10 days the excavation work was commenced yesterday for the 122nd time.
The excavation work was commenced by workers led by the special JMO, Chaminthe Rajapakse.
The Special JMO said as above while speaking to the media yesterday. As the excavation area was inundated by rain, the area is being restored with fences and roofing. In discussion with the Mannar Judge, the roads closer to the excavation site also were discussed.
He also said that the samples will be sent for Carbon analysis on the 30th of this month to Florida. Details of cause of deaths and other matters will be known in that he said.
As at date 280 skeletons have been identified and 274 skeletons had been handed over to the courts and 20 of the skeletons recovered were of children, he further said.
