The Government Agent of Jaffna K.Mahesan said yesterday that all arrangements for the general elections have been completed in the Jaffna District.
He announced this in the media meeting held yesterday at Jaffna District Secretariat.
Elaborating further he said that, all election activities had been commenced from the Jaffna Central College as from today (Yesterday ) evening.
All arrangements for staff, transport and other requirements had been completed he said.
From today morning at 8.00 a.m, the staff and the voting boxes will be sent to 508 Voting centres in the Jaffna District.
Voting activities will be held from 7.00 a.m to 5.00 p.m. tomorrow. Exclusive facilities have been provisioned for people in self quarantine.
89 vote counting centres have been set up in Jaffna District, including 16 centres for counting postal votes.
Counting activities will start at 8.00 a.m. on 6th August. Votes of the electoral Districts of Jaffna and Kayts will be counted first.
It is expected that the number of votes received by the parties could be announced before 11.30 a.m. on day after tomorrow, he said.
